It was the first fully synthetic FIFA World Cup ball, and it had a design inspired by the native Aztec architecture and murals. The ball was named after the Aztecs, who were a powerful civilization that dominated parts of Mexico from the 14th to the 16th centuries. The ball had 32 panels and a polyurethane coating that improved its water resistance and durability.
